PRESS RELEASE: First Sports Direct, now Buckingham Palace; protest to stop zero-hour contracts now!

The Queen who has been given generous consecutive pay rises for the last 2 years to almost £39m, doesn’t see fit to give her staff proper contracts.

Youth Fight for Jobs spokesperson, Ian Pattison said, “Following the terrible revelations that Sports Direct ‘employs’ all 20,000 part-time staff (90% of the workforce) on zero-hour contracts. Now Buckingham Palace has become the latest employer to use of these awful schemes. The Queen who has been given generous consecutive pay rises for the last 2 years to almost £39m, doesn’t see fit to give her staff proper contracts. Zero-hour contracts give maximum flexibility for the employer, but maximum misery and compliance for employees.”

“Youth Fight for Jobs and ‘Are you Sick of your Boss?’ will be holding protests this weekend outside Sports Direct stores to defend permanent contracts with guaranteed hours that pay a living wage for all staff everywhere”
