BREAKING NEWS: TUC votes for general strike motion

Trade unions vote for a general strike

The Trade Union Congress has just voted overwhelmingly at itís annual conference to pass a motion to consider the practicalities of calling a general strike. The motion was proposed by the Prison Officers Association (POA)†and seconded by Bob Crow from the RMT transpot workers trade union.

This a historic step, there has not been a general strike in this country since 1926. Youth Fight for Jobs and Education (YFJE)†has long argued that it will take a general strike to kick start a mass movement against austerity. YFJE will now with others work to make this a reality. We will mobilise young people, the unemployed and students in support of the action as well as continuing to support workers taking action against austerity generally.
