The Trade Union Congress has today voted for co-ordinated strike action over public sector pay. The ConDem goverment has frozen public sector workers pay for three years.
This news comes after the NSSN lobby which mobilised around 500 trade unionists calling for a 24 hour general strike. With the situation hanging on a knife edge after the 16 all vote on Friday the lobby has had a huge impact.
Youth Fight for Jobs and Education fully supports workers who are struggling for rights and living standards. Coordinated action is a step in the right direction for building a mass movement against austerity.
Tomorrow, motion 5 will go before the TUC calling on them to consider the practicalities of a general strike. This would be an historic move that would shake the govenernment and the bosses to thier core. If we are to roll back the tide of austerity it is vital that the organised working class act. It is vital that the motion passes.
