Victory for $15 an hour minimum wage campaign in Seattle

Victory for $15 an hour campaign in Seattle - now build the fightback here in the UK!

Seattle has now become the first major U.S. city to pass a $15 an hour minimum wage. This historic achievement was the result of a powerful grassroots movement built from below. The message is clear: When we organise we can win!

The historic victory in Seattle shows what can be achieved when workers fight back. This should be an inspiration, not just to workers in Seattle and the US, but to working class and poor people, socialists and trade unionists internationally.

Kshama Sawant, a member of Socialist Alternative elected to the City council on the back of the groundswell of support for $15 an hour, and founding member of the 15 now campaign said:$15 in Seattle is just a beginning. We have an entire world to win.

Time to fight for secure jobs and a living wage of 10 an hour here in the UK.
